Self-synchronized duty-cycling for sensor networks with energy harvesting capabilities: Implementation in Wiselib

    Get PDF
In this work we present a protocol for a self- synchronized duty-cycling mechanism in wireless sensor net- works with energy harvesting capabilities. The protocol is im- plemented in Wiselib, a library of generic algorithms for sensor networks. Simulations are conducted with the sensor network simulator Shawn. They are based on the specifications of real hardware known as iSense sensor nodes. The experimental results show that the proposed mechanism is able to adapt to changing energy availabilities. Moreover, it is shown that the system is very robust against packet loss.Postprint (published version

    A Variant of Higher-Order Anti-Unification

    Get PDF
We present a rule-based Huet's style anti-unification algorithm for simply-typed lambda-terms in η-long -normal form, which computes a least general higher-order pattern generalization. For a pair of arbitrary terms of the same type, such a generalization always exists and is unique modulo α-equivalence and variable renaming. The algorithm computes it in cubic time within linear space. It has been implemented and the code is freely available. © Alexander Baumgartner, Temur Kutsia, Jordi Levy, and Mateu Villaret; licensed under Creative Commons License CC-BY 24th International Conference on Rewriting Techniques and Applications (RTA'13).This research has been partially supported by the projects HeLo (TIN2012-33042) and TASSAT (TIN2010-20967-C04-01), by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) with the project SToUT (P 24087-N18) and by the Generalitat de Catalunya with the grant AGAUR 2009-SGR-1434.Peer Reviewe

Higher-Order Pattern Anti-Unification in Linear Time

We present a rule-based Huet’s style anti-unification algorithm for simply typed lambda-terms, which computes a least general higher-order pattern generalization. For a pair of arbitrary terms of the same type, such a generalization always exists and is unique modulo α-equivalence and variable renaming. With a minor modification, the algorithm works for untyped lambda-terms as well. The time complexity of both algorithms is linear. This research has been partially supported by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) project SToUT (P 24087-N18), the Upper Austrian Government strategic program “Innovatives OÖ 2010plus”, the MINECO projects RASO (TIN2015-71799-C2-1-P) and HeLo (TIN2012-33042), the MINECO/FEDER UE project LoCoS (TIN2015-66293-R) and the UdG project MPCUdG2016/055.Peer Reviewe

Selective Arterial Embolizations of Renal Angiomyolipomas Using 96% Ethanol: A Case Series of 5 Patients.

Angiomyolipomas are rare benign tumors of the kidneys, with a risk of spontaneous hemorrhage including severe retroperitoneal bleedings. In this study, we report clinical outcomes of 5 patients who underwent 8 embolization sessions using 96% ethanol, as there is scarce data using this embolic agent for this indication. The primary angiographic success could be achieved in all but 1 lesion, which was not accessible due to vasospasm of the supplying vessel. Therapeutic success could be demonstrated in all treated cases for which follow-up imaging was available (n = 3). In 1 complex patient, a mildly reduced renal function, as well as a new onset of arterial hypertension was detected after treatment. Nontarget embolization of vital kidney tissue was demonstrated in another patient; it remained asymptomatic. Embolization therapy using 96% ethanol is an optional method to treat renal angiomyolipomas

    Term-Graph Anti-Unification

    Get PDF
We study anti-unification for possibly cyclic, unranked term-graphs and develop an algorithm, which computes a minimal complete set of generalizations for them. For bisimilar graphs the algorithm computes the join in the lattice generated by a functional bisimulation. These results generalize anti-unification for ranked and unranked terms to the corresponding term-graphs, and solve also anti-unification problems for rational terms and dags. Our results open a way to widen anti-unification based code clone detection techniques from a tree representation to a graph representation of the code

Cone-Beam CT-assisted navigation for endovascular treatment of erection-related artery stenosis in patients with erectile dysfunction.

BACKGROUND Angioplasty and stenting have emerged as endovascular treatment options for arteriogenic erectile dysfunction over the past few years. Considerable anatomical variation of the erection related pelvic arteries can be challenging during these procedures, leading to time-consuming repetitive super-selective angiograms for navigation. TECHNIQUE We report a novel technique of using C-arm Cone-Beam CT and vessel navigation software to facilitate super-selective catheterization. CONCLUSION Cone-Beam CT-guided navigation for vascular assessment of arteriogenic ED is an optional approach compared to exclusive angiographic assessment. Compared to CT angiography, C-arm Cone-Beam CT offers benefits regarding usage of contrast media and radiation exposure. It has the advantage to combine imaging with endovascular procedures in a single session, reduces time to target navigation in complex pelvic arteries anatomy and may increase therapy safety in endovascular treatment of ED

    Criteria to Assess Professional, Methodological, Social & Self-Competence : Version 1.0 / August 2016

Criteria to assess professional, methodological, social, and self-competence (Learning Goals) were established in a project to develop a competency framework and are used to measure students’ competencies (Learning Objectives) as part of the AoL (Assurance of Learning) process at the ZHAW School of Management and Law. The criteria operationalize students’ competencies and are designed to make them measurable using assessment tasks. They rely on scientific findings (e.g., the VALUE Rubric Development Project of the Association of American Colleges & Universities, AAC&U) and the expertise of specialists at the ZHAW School of Management and Law (SML). For every competency, we have created a set of between three and five compulsory criteria as well as additional, optional criteria for a total of four achievement levels (“Basic”, “Intermediate”, “Advanced”, and “Expert”). These achievement levels reflect the development that students undergo in the course of their studies and specify (depending on the degree program and specialization) the level of competence to be reached by the time they graduate

Immunologic and Molecular Characteristics of Encephalitozoon-Like Microsporidia Isolated from Humans and Rabbits Indicate That Encephalitozoon cuniculi Is a Zoonotic Parasite

    Get PDF
To assess the zoonotic potential of Encephalitozoon-like microsporidia, we isolated and cultivated spores from specimens of urine, respiratory secretions, and stool from six patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus and from nine rabbits. Because spores of Encephalitozoon-like species are indistinguishable by microscopy, we characterized the isolates by western blot analysis and by restriction enzyme analysis of the small subunit (SSU) rDNA after amplification by the polymerase chain reaction. We identified Septata intestinalis in one patient and Encephalitozoon hellem in two symptomatic patients. Encephalitozoon cuniculi was found in all rabbits and in three patients. One of these patients had clinical manifestations of infection with this parasite (severe interstitial pneumonitis). We observed abatement of symptoms and cessation of parasite excretion when these patients were treated with albendazole. Our findings suggest that E. cuniculi may be pathogenic in humans and that it is a zoonotic parasit
